To get to Prague,we had a choice. Either take the train, which would have been a very long journey, or take a combination of the train and a bus. Seeing as the time it would take for the bus trip was about a third of the time for the train, we decided to do the combination of bus and train. It really wasn't a bad journey but six hours on the bus, even in first class, was a bit tiring.
We did learn something interesting on the bus. Some fellow travelers informed us that the Czech Republic is one of the EU countries that is not yet on the Euro. That meant finding an ATM machine at the train station before we could even get a taxi to our hotel. Prague's train station is this cavernous space, most of which is underground. Finally found a machine, got some money, a taxi and we headed for our hotel.
While not our favorite spot on the trip, probably due to the weather, we did manage to get out and see a bit of the city. By the way, Prague has these incredible sidewalks made of small squares of granite laid out in some amazing geometric mosaic patterns.
