Getting to Paris this year was a bit more trying than last year. We had flights cancelled and rerouted. The airline left our luggage in Houston while we flew on to Paris. (It was delivered a day and a half later.) It was pouring down rain. The street our apartment was on was under construction. But once we got to our apartment…WOW!!
Our apartment, located in the 6th arrondissement, was a very cozy one bedroom with a complete kitchen that included a washer and dryer. It was on the first floor, which would be the second floor here in the States, but that was no problem at all. The furnishings were very nice, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very nice. The people that managed the apartment went out of their way to make us feel at home and helped us with lots of suggestions on where to eat, where to shop for food and where the Metro stations were. As it turned out we were within a five to ten minute walk of two major Metro stations.
We revisited a few of the places we went to last year and visited many places for the first time. The Luxembourg Gardens were about a 20 minute walk away. Saint Sulpice was just around the corner and the Pont Neuf was at the end of the street.
We had some remarkable experiences this trip. An organ recital at Saint Sulpice, a Vivaldi concert at Saint Chapelle and a great excursion to Père Lachaise Cemetery.
All in all we had a wonderful time in Paris and it is definitely on our list of places to revisit.
